Everyday we do lots of counting activities. These include rote counting forwards and backwards, counting collections of objects and recognising dice patterns quickly.
Recognising dice patterns encourages children to 'subitise', that is recognise small groups of dots or objects and know how many there are without actually counting. Then the children will be encouraged to count on from the 'subitised' dots rather than go back to one and count all again.
We played another game to help us recognise dice patterns quickly.

PS. Please just ignore my messy desk!!!
