This week we played some basic forms of the ancient game of Nim. You just need seven objects, such as counters or blocks. It is a game for two players.
We put out 7 counters and decided who would go first. Each player took turns to take away either one or two counters. The player who took the last counter/s was the winner.
There was lots of maths to talk about. We played until we worked out how to win and we talked about what we had to do to win. This game is easy to play at home and you will see how your child knows when they will be the winner!
We also wondered does it matter who has the first turn?
