We played NIM again today but with 10 penguins. We learnt that to work out how to win you need to start by thinking about the end of the game. The students knew that as the game went on they had to think ahead. They worked out if there were 3 penguins left they would win, but if their partner knew this strategy too they had to make it 5 penguins. So lots of maths thinking.
We learnt that to work out how to win you need to start by thinking about the end of the game and then work back to earlier moves.
Mrs Badham had fun too! Sometimes she won and sometimes her partner won.
How did you win?
